Privacy policy
Last updated: 5 November 2026
This policy explains what information Yebook Technologies ("Yebook", "we") collects when you use the Yebook website (yebook.in) and the Yebook app, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password (we store only a hashed form, never the password itself). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from them.
- Your use of Yebook: books and chapters you open, listening progress, favourites, playlists, highlights, comments and reviews.
- Payments: Premium payments are handled by Razorpay. We receive the payment status, amount and a payment ID. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.
- Device and log information: IP address, browser or device type, app version, and a notification token if you allow notifications in the app.
How we use it
- To run your account, keep your progress in sync between the app and the website, and give Premium members access.
- To send emails you need (verification codes, password reset, receipts) and, if you allow it, notifications about new books and offers.
- To understand which books and features people use, so we can improve Yebook.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal requirements.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your settings and keep the website secure. We also use the following third-party services, which may set their own cookies:
- Google Analytics, to measure how the website is used. Learn more or opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Google AdSense, to show advertisements to visitors who are not Premium members.
Advertising
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Premium members do not see ads.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Yebook, under their own privacy terms: Razorpay (payments), Google (sign-in, analytics, advertising, Firebase notifications), Apple (sign-in), our email provider, and our hosting and storage providers. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account from the Yebook app, or by writing to [email protected]; we then delete your account and reading history, except records we must keep by law (for example payment records).
Children
Yebook is meant for a general audience. Children under 13 should use it with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without that consent; if you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version; if a change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email.
